Welcome to my anti-bullying blog

At any age, bullying can make a child feel afraid, isolated and desperate

Welcome to my blog, dedicated to discussing all things related to school-age bullying and the depression it often causes. Sadly, teen and even pre-teen suicide is on the rise. This should be a matter of greatest concern for all adults, whether you’re a parent, you work with kids, or you are simply a compassionate human being. Children are being driven to such depths of despair by physical, verbal and cyber-bullying, that they are taking their own lives. This situation cannot be allowed to continue.
I am also passionate about exploring action, on a regional or national scale, that can address and reduce the problem.
This blog is based upon a number of principles:
  • The victim’s wellbeing should always be considered first and foremost, above all other concerns
  • An atmosphere of trust in the teaching staff must be created in order for children to feel safe reporting bullying, and confident that they will be taken seriously and their issues resolved
  • Every school is a bullying school, because every school has children in it
  • Children by their nature can be cruel and hurtful, often without even meaning to be
  • Bullying can be reduced by changing the student culture within schools
  • Bullying can be reduced by exercising a zero-tolerance disciplinary policy in schools
  • Most schools, state/county authorities, and governments need to do more to address bullying
Over the coming months and years, I will be addressing various facets of bullying, and hopefully reporting success stories as bullying is tackled around the world.
I very much hope that you will be able to share your stories – good and bad, so that the discussion is informed with factual examples.
Hoping and working for a brighter tomorrow.
